Criminals since childhood

(TIEDE 3/2011)

Tuula Kinnarinen wrote an article about Adrian Raine’s and Nathalie Fontaine’s research, which deals the fact that there could be a sign of criminality already in childhood. Raine and Fontaine are criminologists and they believe that some of us born as criminals.

Brain investigation has proceed so much that soon we are able to see criminality from six-months-old baby’s brains. Raine believes that fish oils help child’s brains to grow normally. When brains are normal, there won’t be any behaviour disorders.

Nathalie Fontaine presents a research result which says that very often behaviour disorders come from gene errors. Gene errors aren’t still the only reason for criminality. The research says that the impact of the environment is at least 50% of becoming criminal.

Researchers aren’t saying that biology judges people. They are saying that biology can help to prevent becoming problems. Adrian Raine thinks that we should begin to locate possible new criminals and prevent it somehow.

We think that one research isn’t enough to cause any kind of activities. We need more evidences before we can start to manipulate children’s brains just like that. Kind of brutal, we think.
